Inspiration Breakfast: “Lessons from Pasta Grannies” by Adam
For this Inspiration Breakfast recap, Adam shared his admiration for the Pasta Grannies—a documentary series by filmmaker Vicky Bennison that celebrates the Italian women who have kept traditional pasta-making alive. For Vicky, what began as a film project became a lesson in longevity, creativity, and connection: doing more with less, using what you have, and sharing what you make. We learned so much from Adam about the art of making by hand, and the living history that keeps tradition alive.
Through stories of hand-rolled dough and well-worn kitchens, Adam explored the tactile and intentional nature of craft—how repetition builds skill, and how making with your hands creates a direct link between people, place, and purpose. He shared his own pasta adventures, recipes, and how it felt to be a part of creating community through cooking.
The discussion reminded us that design, much like pasta, is an act of care. It’s physical, imperfect, and deeply human—rooted in the belief that everyday rituals can hold extraordinary meaning.
